The complete shutdown in the national capital was earlier scheduled to end on Monday (May 17).
A six-day lockdown was announced by CM Kejriwal on April 19 to break the chain of the coronavirus infection and to boost the health system. Since then, the shutdown has been extended thrice to bring the situation under control. The current extension is the fourth extension.
The chief minister had earlier said that the decline in the number of infections and lower positivity rate is the result of the complete lockdown in the city. He also stressed that Delhiites should continue taking all necessary precautions to ensure that cases do not rise.
