With data consumption on the rise people have been flocking to American entertainment company, Netflix, to stream new shows online. This year alone there were more than 80 lakh individuals who could not wait to finish a series, Netflix said in a report on Tuesday.

Netflix labelled these group of individuals as ‘Binge Racers,’ who completed an entire season of a TV show within 24 hours of its release on the company’s site.

"Accomplishing in a day what takes others weeks to achieve, Binge Racers strive to be the first to finish by speeding through an entire season within 24 hours of its release," the report said.

“In total, 8.4 million (84 lakh) members have chosen to Binge Race during their Netflix tenure, and the only thing faster than their rate of watching is the rate this behaviour continues to grow,” Netflix said.

Binge racers grew more than 20 times in the last four years, Netflix report revealed from a few lakhs in 2012 to 200,000 members in 2013 to more than 5 lakh in 2017.
