American technology giant Apple has reduced the price of subscription plans of Apple Music in India, following the company's decision to go for a heavy price cut on iPhone XR to boost the sales of the ‘budget’ iPhone. The tech giant has slashed the price of its flagship smartphone for a limited period, starting from Friday. The till-the-stock-last offer brings down the price of Rs 76,900 iPhone XR (64GB) to Rs 59,900 for non-HDFC customers, and Rs 53,900 (64GB variant) with special cash-back offer for HDFC customers, according to the company statement on Thursday.

After reducing iPhone price, the US firm has reduced the subscription charges of Apple Music to just Rs 99 per month for individual plans and Rs 149 for family pack, while both the plans were earlier priced at Rs 120/month and Rs 190/month respectively. Apple has also tried to woo students, youth clientele, by reducing Apple Music subscription for Rs 49 for student, while it was previously available for Rs 69/month. 

Apple's decision is witnessed in the wake of Spotify and YouTube Music making their foray into the Indian market, a month ago. Spotify charges Rs 119/ month for its Premium subscription, while YouTube Music is available at Rs 129 for a month.

Apple Music has over 56 million subscribers globally and is available for both, iOS and Android. In India, Apple users can switch to the paid version after a trial period of three months.

Notably, after slashing prices of one of its latest iPhones in India by around one-fourth, the 128GB iPhone XR (original price Rs 81,900) will cost Rs 64,900 for non-HDFC customers and Rs 58,400 for HDFC users. However, Rs 91,900 256GB variant will cost Rs 74,900 for non-HDFC customers and Rs 67,400 for HDFC customers.

iPhone XR sports all-screen glass and an aluminium design featuring 6.1-inch display, besides housing A12 Bionic chip with next-generation "Neural Engine", which unlocks new experiences for immersive augmented reality (AR), games and photography.
