Stock market today: The domestic equity market opened on a positive note on Thursday, September 28, despite weak global cues. Buying interest was seen in FMCG, auto, IT, metal, pharma, banks, realty and oil & gas counters.

Last seen, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 151.45 points, or 0.23 per cent, at 66,270.14 and the NSE Nifty was up 37.2 points, or 0.19 per cent, at 19,753.65 levels.

In the broader market, the Nifty Mid Cap 100 and Small Cap 100 opened higher.

Nifty Bank was trading 0.08 per cent at 44,588.3.

BUZZING STOCKS 

MCX shares traded over 3 per cent higher after Zee Business's exclusive report about changing to a new trading platform was confirmed.

KSB Ltd shares were up over 2 per cent after the company received an order of Rs 27.8 crore for solar water pump system supply from the UP government.

BSE shares were up over 2 per cent. 

NBCC shares were up over 1 per cent after the company announced it would sell 14.75 lakh sq ft of space in the World Trade Centre in Delhi for Rs 5716.43 crore through e-auction.

Conversely, Vodafone Idea shares were down over 2 per cent after it lost 13.2 lakh customers in July.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Asian shares were mostly lower Thursday in subdued trading on looming worries about China's property woes.

The Hang Seng index slid 1.2 per cent to 17,390.50 in morning trading. The Shanghai Composite was up less than 0.1 per cent at 3,108.51.

Trading was closed in South Korea for a holiday. Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 dropped 1.7 per cent to 31,813.01. Sydney's S&P/ASX 200 was little changed at 7,029.30.

On Wall Street, shares finished mixed after rising oil prices and bond yields cranked up the pressure even higher on the stock market. After taking several U-turns through the day, the S&P 500 inched up 0.98, or less than 0.1 per cent, to 4,274.51 and remains near its lowest level since June.
