De De Pyaar De box office collection day 1: If you watched the trailer of Akvi Ali's 'De De Pyar De' and thought that this might be just another senseless, illogical comedy where you would be asked to leave your brain at home, you have been deceived. The Ajay Devgn starrer has released to ecstatic reviews, something not so common for comedies in India, and could be a surprise package at the box office this year. The film has opened with 25 to 30 per cent occupancy across the country on Friday and should pick up with positive word of mouth.

Film Trade analyst and critic Sumit Kadel confirmed the occupancy of the film. "#DeDePyaarDe has a decent start at the box office, film opened with 25-30% occupancy across India," he tweeted. With this opening, the film should easily earn over Rs 10 crore on day 1 and might even cross Rs 50 crore mark over the weekend. Kadel was full of praises for the film, calling it hilarious and mature piece of work. "#DeDePyaarDe is HILARIOUS , EMOTIONAL & MATURE FILM. Superbly written, Fantastic dialogues but above all BRILLIANT performances by @ajaydevgn ,Tabu & @rakulpreet . Director akvi ali as a Director has done a phenomenal job. Must watch film," he said, in another tweet.

Earlier, he had told Zee Business Online that De De Pyar De's box office collection for day 1 should be around Rs 12 crore. "The film is set to earn around Rs 11 to 12 crore at the opening day, while Rs 50 crore on its opening weekend. The trailer of the movie has created a lot of buzz among Indian audience and is expected to do decent business at box office," Kadel had tweeted.

Movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh also called the film a winner. "Entertains big time... Smart writing, plenty of laugh aloud moments, strong emotions, top notch acts [Ajay, Tabu, Rakul Preet]... Director Akiv Ali gives a refreshing twist to relationships. Watch it! #DDPD #DDPDReview," he tweeted.

The film will benefit from the fact that Tiger Shroff's Student of the Year 2 has slowed down at the box office, earning just Rs 4.02 crore on Thursday. "#StudentOfTheYear2 underperforms... Biz was steady on weekdays, but *Week 1* total should’ve been much, much higher thanks to Tiger’s star power, #SOTY franchise and 3000+ screen count... In fact, #SOTY2 *Week 1* is lower than Tiger’s #Baaghi [2016]," Adarsh said in another tweet.

Student of the Year 2 has collected Rs 57.90 crore so far.
