All eyes on Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL)’s 40th annual general meeting (AGM) today which was scheduled to begin at 11 am on July 21.

The company is expected to make ‘customer centric’ announcements according to sources and two major announcements by its telecom arm – Reliance Jio is expected at the meet.

Managing Director Mukesh Ambani had announced Reliance Jio digital services at RIL’s last AGM on September 1.

Today, Ambani is expected to talk about Jio’s 4G feature phone or the launch of its home broadband services – JioFiber.

JioFiber:

The home broadband services by JioFiber is expected to come with its own router and plans that could offer 100GB of data per month at 100Mbps of speed which would be free for three months.

A sneak peek at Jio’s broadband plans were accidentally revealed earlier this month due to a technical glitch.

Jio was reportedly testing its broadband services in May at different cities including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara.

The company is rumoured to also offer the option of improved network coverage in buildings and societies.

The technical glitch showed a sign on Jio’s website that read – ‘I am interested in enhancing Jio coverage in my building,’ was also revealed.

Earlier speculations over JioFiber plans revealed that its plans would have a validity of 30 days and will begin at 50 Mbps for Rs 1500 for 2000GB data limit, a report by Tech Facts live said on April 29.
