On March 31, 2017, Mukesh Ambani, MD, Reliance Industries said that along with the extension of Prime membership, the company was launching a new Summer Surprise offer.

In this offer, subscribers with plans of over Rs 300 would get three months 4G data free as complimentary.

Plans to counter Reliance Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan; which one is for you?

The regular Rs 303 plan gave customers 28GB data for 28 days.

Those who opted for Rs 499 plan would get 56 GB for three months instead of one and those opting for Rs 999 plan were offered 100GB of 4G for 90 days instead of 60 days.

However, subscribers who recharged worth Rs 1999 and above are miffed with Jio.

A subscriber told  Zeebiz, "Reliance Jio is arbitrarily and artificially constraining the amount of data that the user can access as 100 GB within 3 months."

He said, "One would imagine that a user would purchase a high valued data plan only if he has heavy data needs in the near future. Otherwise, a smaller data plan would have sufficed," adding, "I have heavy data usage from April to June, after which I can just sip data. So the worst part is that when I need heavy data, I am being forced to limit to 100 GB for 3 months. When I don't need heavy data usage after June, Reliance Jio will be shoving 350 GB for me to consume."

A Reliance Jio official, who wished not to be quoted, said that the company is offering Summer Surprise as a complimentary offer. Once three months period is over, subscribers will get their full quota of 350 GB or 750 GB.

An email sent to Jio for a comment went unanswered by the time of publishing this story.

The company, while announcing Summer Surprise offer said that it would offer, “…the complimentary services in addition to the benefits of their purchased plan.”

However, the offer works for subscribers with plans up to Rs 499 but not for those who have paid for higher data like 350 GB and 750 GB as they have to wait for three months to get access to their full quota of 4G data.

Jio offers two booster packs for Rs 51 that gives customers 1 GB data and the second for Rs 301 which offered customer 6 GB of 4G data.
