Laureus Sports Awards 2024 winners list: The winners of the 25th edition of the Laureus World Sports Awards have been announced, with some of the big names in the global sporting arena winning the prestigious trophy in Madrid, Spain, on Monday, April 22 (local time).

Frequently referred to as the sporting equivalent of the 'Oscars', this year's award ceremony took place at the Palacio de Cibeles in the Spanish capital.

This year, 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic won the award in the "World Sportsman of the Year" category, defeating the likes of footballers Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, and F1 racer Max Verstappen.

In the "World Sportswoman of the Year" category, Spanish footballer Aitana Bonmati won the award. England's and Real Madrid's midfield sensation, Jude Bellingham, also received the award in the "World Breakthrough of the Year" category.
