National Engineers Day 2022: As India celebrates National Engineers Day today, September 15, to scores of politicians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers took to Twitter to remember the country's greatest engineer M Visvesvaraya.

The day commemorates the birth anniversary of Visvesvaraya. Visvesvaraya, a civil engineer, was bestowed with the country's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna in 1955 for his outstanding contributions.

He was the chief engineer for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam on the Kavery River in Mysore. The dam, at that time, was the largest reservoir in Asia.
