Closing Bell: Markets close positive on final day of 2021, Sensex, Nifty each up nearly 1% – Hindalco up 6%
The Indian markets on the final day of 2021 closed on a higher note, as the Sensex jumped over 450 points, while the Nifty50 settled above the 17350-mark, led by the metal and auto stocks.

At the market close, the BSE Sensex surged over 459 points or 0.8 per cent to 58,253, while the Nifty50 gained over 160 points or 0.93 per cent to 17,364 at the close. The broader markets outperformed the benchmarks as both mid and small cap gained almost 1.5 per cent at the market close.

Aiding most to the Nifty50, the 12-share banking index jumped over 447 points or 1.28 per cent at 35,511-mark, led by Kotak Mahindra Bank up over 2 per cent at the close.
As many as 44 stocks closed in the green and 6 stocks in the red on the Nifty50 at the close. Hindalco continued to be the top gainer, closed almost 6 per cent higher, followed by Titan surged nearly 3.5 per cent. While Ultratech Cement, Tata Motors, Shree Cement, BPCL, SBI each up over 2 per cent.
On the contrary, NTPC declined most by around 2 per cent, followed by Cipla, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid, Infosys and Coal India declined marginally in otherwise weak market.
All sectoral indices closed in the green, with Nifty Metal surging most by around 2 per cent, followed by Nifty Auto up over 1.5 per cent. Similarly, Nifty Bank, Financial, FMCG each gained over 1 per cent at the market close. While surge in realty and media stocks aided most to broader markets growth.
In line with the street's expectations, the shares of CMS Infosystems made a flat debut on exchanges on Friday. The shares of CMS Infosystems were listed at Rs 218.50 on the BSE. This was a gain of 2.50 or 1.16 per cent against issue price of Rs 216 per share.
And, on the NSE, the shares of the cash management services provider opened at Rs 220.20, a gain of Rs 4.20 or 1.94 per cent on the issue price.
