Stock Markets Today: BSE Sensex, NSE Nifty trading flat; Tata Steel gains
After a flat closing on Friday, the stock markets today did not budge much. Both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 were trading flat within minutes of the opening of the market. While the Sensex was trading at 38,149.54, up by just over 20 points soon after the markets opened, the broader market NSE Nifty 50 was trading 11206.30, up by over 12 points around this time
After a flat closing on Friday, the stock markets today did not budge much. Both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 were trading flat within minutes of the opening of the market. While the Sensex was trading at 38,149.54, up by just over 20 points soon after the markets opened, the broader market NSE Nifty 50 was trading 11206.30, up by over 12 points around this time.
In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 23 stocks were trading in the green in the early morning trade while the remaining were trading in the red. The top gainers on Monday in the early trade were Bajaj Finserv, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Tata Steel while the top losers were HDFC Bank, Power Grid, Ultratech Cement Company, Bajaj Auto and Bharti Airtel.
Meanwhile, reliance Industries, Asian Paints, BPCL, Tata Steel and GAIL were the top gainers on Nifty Fifty on Monday in the opening trade. The top losers were HDFC Bank, JSW Steel, Power Grid and ITC.
Today, the USDINR futures were trading at 74.7025 around against the USD at 9:30 am on BSE.
On Friday, the Sensex ended almost flat at 38,128.90, falling by almost 11 points while the Nifty 50 closed at 11,194.15, also down by over 21 points.
U.S. stock futures slipped and Asian shares came under pressure in early Monday trade as tit-for-tat consulate closures in China and the United States fanned worries about worsening diplomatic ties between the world`s two largest economies. S&P500 futures dropped 0.2 per cent while Nasdaq futures lost 0.3 per cent. Japan`s Nikkei fell 1.3 per cent, re-opening after a long weekend.
MSCI`s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was flat.
