Mumbai rains update today: ALERT! IMD forecast warns of downpour in next 48 hrs
India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted, Mumbai and its adjoining areas are likely to receive heavy rainfall for the next two days. Strong winds are expected and speed reaching 40-50 kmph, are likely to prevail over the north Arabian Sea, central and southwest Arabian Sea.
Mumbai rains update today: The month of July has been a rainy one for the city of Mumbai. Moreover, in just the first few days of July, Mumbai had already surpassed its normal rainfall levels in July. On Tuesday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted, Mumbai and its adjoining areas are likely to receive heavy rainfall for the next two days. Strong winds are expected and speed reaching 40-50 kmph, are likely to prevail over the north Arabian Sea, central and southwest Arabian Sea.
Also, Squally weather is likely to prevail over the Gujarat coast.
So the organisation has advised fishermen that not to venture into the sea for the next few days. The weather forecasting agency also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh and Nagaland.
The report adds, Himachal Pradesh will have light to moderate rain and thundershowers very likely to occur in the districts of Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, Bilaspur, Sirmaur, Solan and Shimla during the next three hours.
In the North-east, besides, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also likely to receive heavy rain showers later in the day today.
Weather forecaster Skymet said in its report, " Moderate to heavy rains will continue in Vidarbha and Marathwada for another 48 hours. And moderate rain with one or two heavy spells may lash Konkan and Goa. However, rains will continue with reduced intensity over Konkan and Goa including Mumbai now."
Heavy Monsoon rains to the tune of 133 mm have triggered a flood-like situation in Chandrapur district of Vidarbha. In fact, it has been one of the heaviest spells in the last decade. Other cities in Maharashtra such as Gadchilori and Nashik too have experienced heavy Monsoon showers. Mahabaleshwar with 235 mm of rains has been observed as the rainiest place in the country for the second consecutive day, added Skymet.
