Indian Railways magazine goes pink; here is why

In the latest initiative by Indian Railways, the PSU has devoted the latest May issue of its monthly magazine to female employees and their achievements. Railways has also dedicated the year to the safety of women.
Celebrating women employees' feats in sports, as managers of railway stations, as checkers and security personnel, the cover of the 'Indian Railways' magazine comes in purple and pink. The magazine costs Rs 10. This will also serve as a spotlight on women ticket checkers. Some of the other record-making achievements that are mentioned in the magazine includes the first woman to operate a train, to become a station manager, announcer, mechanic and so on.
"The May issue has a special focus on women and as we have dedicated this year to women's safety in the Railways, we are taking special measures in improving the safety, security and amenities for women," said an official, as mentioned by PTI.

The decisions were taken by a committee which was set up to moniter the measures taken for the safety and security of women travellers. The committee consists of Railway Board chairperson Ashwani Lohani, member (traffic) Mohammed Jamshed and other senior officials.
Mentioning the events for the year on issues related to the security of women and children, Railway zones have asked to issue a calendar.
