Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced a new centrally sponsored scheme PM Aatmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana to be launched with a budget outlay of Rs 64,180 crore over 6 years. She said that investment on health infrastructure in Budget 2021 has increased substantially. She said this while reading her Budget 2021 speech on Monday (1 February). Three areas - Preventive health, curative health and well-being will be strengthened, she said today.
She said that the Budget 2021 proposals rest on six pillars viz. Health and Well-Being; Physical and Financial capital and infrastructure; Inclusive Development for Aspirational India; Reinvigorating Human Capital; Innovation and R&D.

The Govt stretched its resources for the benefit of the poorest of the poor, the FM said. The PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, the three Aatma Nirbhar Bharat packages and subsequent announcements were like five mini-budgets in themselves, she said today while reading her Budget 2021 speech.

India now has one of the lowest COVID19 death rates of 112 per million population and one of the lowest active cases of about 130 per million, she said.
She also said that it has been Only three times has the Budget followed a contraction in the economy. This time, unlike before, the situation is due to a global pandemic. Budget 2021 provides every opportunity for economy to capture pace and grow sustainably, she further said, during her Budget 2020 speech.
