The CBSE awards subject-wise grades to the candidates in class 10 and class 12 board exams along with the marks obtained by them in each subject. The awarded grades are reflected in the marksheets issued to the board exam candidates of class 12. It is also reflected in the marksheet-cum-certificates issued to the board exam students of class 10.
The award of grading is mentioned in detail at the back of the marksheets and marksheet-cum-certificates. However, every year, the CBSE receive a lot of queries relating to its grading system for the board exam candidates of class 10 and class 12.

A-2 - Next 1/8th of the passed candidates
B-1 - Next 1/8th of the passed candidates
B-2 - Next 1/8th of the passed candidates
