As per a report by india.com, a couple of days before the game, India named the squad for the final two tests. The inclusion of Umesh Yadav in place of Shardul Thakur was the only change in the otherwise unchanged squad.

India scripted an incredible comeback in the second test against England at Chennai after a humiliating defeat in the first one. India registered a 317-run win over England in Chennai to level the series.

Possibly, India is going to make one change in the day-and-night test at Ahmedabad. Stellar speedster Jasprit Bumrah who was rested in the second test is likely to come back in the playing 11 while spinner Kuldeep Yadav may have to sit out. An additional fast bowler may turn out to be advantageous for the team as day-and-night tests have shown that fast bowlers have done better under the lights.

The newly-constructed Motera Stadium that will host its first international match will also be on the limelight.

India will qualify for the finals of the ICC Test Championship to take on New Zealand if they win this test series.

India's predicted playing 11 for third test: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (C), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (WK), Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah
