Ishant Sharma, India's lead pacer in the Test, became the third Indian fast bowler to scalp 300 wickets in the longest format of the game. Ishant achieved this milestone when he dismissed Dan Lawrence trapping him in front of wickets to scalp his 300th wicket in Test cricket during the India vs England first Test match on Monday. In the process, India go-to man also became the only sixth Indian bowler in the history of Test cricket to take 300 or more wickets. The chart of Indian bowlers with more than 300 Test scalps is led by India's former leg-spinner and ex-captain Anil Kumble, who ended his Test career with 619 wickets in 132 Test matches.

Well, Kumble is not the quickest to 300 Test scalps, it is Ravichandran Ashwin. R Ashwin achieved the mark in his 54th Test match. He also happens to be the fastest bowler in the world to complete 300 wickets.

Now that you know who is the fastest bowler to claim this record, it's time to reveal slowest Indian bowler to reach the 300 wickets elite club.  

Incidentally, it is none other than our latest entrant in the 300 wickets club—Ishant Sharma.  Sharma took 98 matches to enter grab 300 wickets.

Kumble is the second fastest Indian to achieve this record under his name. He reached this milestone in 66 test matches. Besides, off-spinner in Harbhajan Singh took 72 matches, all-rounder Kapil Dev (83) and Zaheer Khan (89).
