Twitter has announced the launch of a number of new features to its native web version, Twitter Lite, and its Windows app. The social media platform announced the launch of these features in its official Twitter account, which said that the company is adding  ‘Night Mode’, ‘Real-time updates’ to the reply, retweet and like counters on the tweets, and an updated compose box for a new tweet, according to a report by bgr.in.

This is a big deal for users who do not wish to use the full version of the app and are only comfortable using other official alternatives provided by Twitter in place of its main app as pointed by Engadget. However, the other reason may be that the users may be pushed to using its main mobile app. They may also be pushed to use the other versions including the web version, Lite app, and the Windows app.

BGR report said that the reason for this push is likely to be the new developer tools and APIs that the company is pushing to all its third-party developers. This may also break some features in the third party Twitter app of the user's choice.

Twitter announced this new launch just hours after the company killed its official app for Android TV, Xbox and Roku.
