Countries across the world are taking aviation safety seriously. European Union's EU Council last week reportedly adopted aviation safety rules to better prepare for emerging technologies such as unmanned aerial vehicles. The new rule will give European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) authority to collaborate with EU member states.

The new rules were to equip EASA with proper tools and legal foundation to support the development of the aviation industry, according to Intelligent Aerospace report. This is particularly in domains like drones and digitalisation, EASA executive director Patrick Ky said.  "At the same time, we need to preserve the European society aspirations for a safer and environmentally friendly world," Ky said.

The rule also strengthens EASA's role in areas like environmental protection, research and development, international cooperation and aviation cybersecurity, the report said. EU's official journal will reportedly publish the new regulation by the end of July, and become effective in the coming months. The new rule was introduced as aerial devices like drones sometimes probes to be fatal for the aircraft.
