US FED MEET 2023: Shrinking rate hikes expected in first FOMC meeting of 2023

The US Federal Reserve will announce their first decision of 2023 on Feb 1. In 2022, the central bank had raised interest rates to over 4.25% from near zero levels in its fight against stubbornly high inflation. Market participants expect Fed Chief Jerome Powell to raise the benchmark federal funds rate by 25 bps, to a target range of 4.50% to 4.75%.
