32 teams from all across the European leagues will participate in this tournament. The teams are divided into eight groups, with four teams in each group. All the teams will play six matches in the group stage, which includes three home matches and three away matches. The top teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stages. The knockout stages consist of the Round of 16s, the quarterfinals, the semifinals, and ultimately the final.

All the matches will be played in two legs — that is, the teams will play one home and one away match, except for the final, which will be played at a neutral venue. The 2023–24 UEFA Champions League final will be played at Wembley Stadium in London.

It is quite early to judge which team will win this season's trophy. A lot of old guns have managed to qualify for the group stage, along with some veteran clubs of the competition, which have often lifted the UCL trophy. Spanish club Real Madrid is the most successful club in the history of the tournament, with 14 trophies in their name, followed by Italian club AC Milan with six.

Looking at the draws for the group stage, a lot of pundits and fans have remarked that Group F is the 'Group of Death'. This group consists of French champions Paris Saint-Germain, Italian club AC Milan, German club Borussia Dortmund, and English club Newcastle United.

Other than that, a fair bit of competition can be expected from the other groups except for Group G. The group consists of defending champion Manchester City, along with German club RB Leipzig, Serbian club FK Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade), and Swiss club Young Boys, making it a cake-walk for City.
