Pakistan has been struggling a lot at the moment after a good start to their World Cup campaign. They have lost their last three matches, including a loss against the underdogs, Afghanistan, which has brought a lot of backlash from Pakistani supporters as well as former Pakistani cricketers.

On the other hand, South Africa is on a flyer at the moment. Even after a shocking defeat at the hands of the Netherlands at Dharmasala, South Africa had been a force to be reckoned with. It is likely to be an easy outing for the Proteas at Chepauk.

Pakistan Squad: Strengths and Weaknesses

Pakistan team is a ton of mess at the moment. With such bad performances in their recent matches, Pakistan has to find a way out, or else they will have little to no chance of getting into the semi-finals. Their batting has not been up to par, and the strike rate of only two middle-order batsmen — Saud Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed — grazes the 100-mark.

Skipper Babar Azam also hasn't been able to make an impact with his bat and is also on the verge of losing his captaincy if the bad run of matches continues.

In the bowling department, Pakistan's primary pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has not been able to provide breakthroughs with the new ball. In the absence of Naseem Shah, pacers Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali, have been leaking runs in all directions, which has jeopardised Pakistan's bowling.

Moreover, Pakistan will face a major problem playing in Chepauk. Without any good spinners in the squad, Pakistan will struggle a lot on the turning pitches. Vice-captain Shadab Khan and left-arm spinner Mohammed Nawaz have been poor so far — they've neither picked wickets nor contained the flow of runs.

South Africa Squad: Strengths and Weaknesses

For South Africa, it seems that everything has been going as planned. Apart from their surprising defeat against the Netherlands, the team has been flawless so far. Opener Quinton de Kock, along with middle-order batsmen Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram, have been headlining with their batting contributions for the team. Heavy hitter David Miller and all-rounder Marco Jansen have also been providing good support in the lower order.

Pacers Kagiso Rabada and Gerald Coetzee, along with Jansen, have provided important breakthroughs and also ripped apart the opposition's batting lineup when needed.

Moreover, spinner Keshav Maharaj will be the most vital part of South Africa's bowling at Chepauk. Maharaj has been the most economical bowler for the Proteas so far, with a 4.60 economy rate. Also, with the expected return of left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi to the South African squad, things could get a lot more difficult for the struggling Pakistani batters.
