Netherlands Squad: Strengths and Weaknesses

The Dutch team surprised the whole cricketing world after they qualified for the World Cup, defeating the likes of the West Indies in the World Cup qualifiers back in July. With one of the strongest teams that the Netherlands has ever produced for the 50-over format, it is expected that they might provide some major upsets.

Led by Scott Edwards, the Dutch team has the likes of Logan van Beek, Bas de Leede, and Max O’Dowd, who can perform miracles on their day. Along with that, hard hitter Vikramjit Singh can also play a vital role in the top order. They also have two dependable spinners in Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann who can also score in the lower order.

However, the lack of game time can go against their plans, as the Dutch side has not played a single complete ODI match since their World Cup Qualifier Final match against Sri Lanka back in July.

In the rain-curtailed warm-up match against Australia, the Netherlands' middle order was baffled by the Aussie pace attack. However, the lower order managed to hold the Australian attack until the game was called off due to rain.

Pakistan Squad: Strengths and Weaknesses

Pakistan, on the other hand, has its own set of problems. Pak skipper Babar Azam would be unsure about his starting lineup, especially in the bowling department.

After Naseem Shah was ruled out of the squad due to injury, Hasan Ali was brought in to partner Shaheen Afridi with the new ball. But the pacer had some bad spells in the warmup games. Babar did try out Haris Rauf with the new ball against Australia in the warmups, but he returned a sorry figure of 97 runs off 9 overs.

On the bright side, Pakistan are not facing any major issues with their batting. Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, and Iftikhar Ahmed, along with Babar Azam, are in good touch and consistent in their recent performances. The only issue is with opener Fakhar Zaman, who is struggling with his form, and vice-captain Shadab Khan, who is unable to hit the right lengths on the batting-friendly wickets.
