IPL 2023 Opening ceremony Date, Time, Venue: The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, also known as the TATA IPL, is expected to start with much fanfare at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 31.

Reigning champions Gujarat Titans will face IPL giants Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural match at 7:30 PM, slightly after the opening ceremony at the same stadium.

The tournament will stretch for almost two months and have its final on May 28. A total of 74 matches (70 league matches, one Eliminator, 2 Qualifiers and one Final) will be played.

The final match will be played between the winner of Qualifier 1 and the winner of Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. 

The home-and-away match format is also making a comeback. The format was discontinued due to COVID-19-related restrictions. 

Playing in their inaugural edition of the tournament, Gujarat Titans cashed in on home advantage to beat Rajasthan Royals in the title clash last year in Ahmedabad.

IPL 2023

Opening ceremony date: March 31, 2023, 

Time: Prior to the start of the Gujarat Titans-Chennai Super Kings match, which will begin at 7:30 PM at the opening ceremony venue 

Venue: Narendra Modi Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad

Performers: Rasmika Mandanna, Tamannah Bhatia (reportedly)

Celebs: Rasmika Mandanna, Tamannah Bhatia, and many other movie A-listers are expected to attend the ceremony

Tickets: Tickets for IPL 16 are available at the Paytm Insider and Book My Show mobile applications. IPL fans can also purchase tickets at the venues' box offices. Tickets are available at a cost of Rs 800–10,000. Paytm Insider and Book My Show will deliver tickets to the buyer's address at least 2-3 days before the start of the match.

First match: Home team Gujarat Titans will take on four-time winners Chennai Super Kings 

Official broadcasters: The opening ceremony of the IPL 2023 and all matches will be broadcast live on Star Sports. It retained the broadcasting rights last year. 

Viacom18 has the exclusive internet streaming rights, and people can watch all IPL matches on its Jio Cinema app for free.

For foreign audiences, online streaming company, DAZN, and ITV will broadcast 16 matches on a free-to-air basis in the United Kingdom.

In the USA, Willow TV has TV broadcast rights, while the ESPN+ app has internet streaming rights.   

Teams: A total of 10 teams will be in the fray for the trophy. Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad

Venues: There will be a total of 12 venues for the matches. Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala is set to host IPL matches for the first time after 2013.
