However, it will take a toll on Team India as they play gruelling back-to-back matches. The match is set to start at 3:00 PM IST at Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Fans do hope for clear skies after rain again interrupted play for a few moments on Monday.

The Sri Lankan side had started the Super 4 campaign on a high after they won their first match by 21 runs, defeating Bangladesh in the process. Sri Lanka, under the leadership of Dasun Shanaka, had set a target of 257 in 50 overs.

Batter Sadeera Samarawickrama scored a brilliant 93 off 72 balls, supported by Kusal Mendis's 50 off 73, which helped the Lankans set such a target. Bangladesh fought back, taking nine wickets, with Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud taking three each.

After the fall of back-to-back wickets for Bangladesh, batter Towhid Hridoy started to make amends by scoring 82 runs off 92 balls. But all went down in vain after Sri Lanka bowled them out with 236 runs on the board in 48.1 overs. Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, and Dasun Shanaka took three wickets each for their side.

On the other hand, Team India are in great form. They won their first match of the Super 4 by a mammoth 228 runs by defeating Pakistan. Despite having some trouble with the rain interrupting play in most of their matches, when the game was on, India showed some great performances with the bat.

The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were able to give a good start as they hammered a 121-run opening partnership. Star batter Virat Kohli played a brilliant knock of 122* of 94, getting his 77th career century. Batter KL Rahul announced his comeback with an unbeaten 111 off 106 in his first match after injury.

India also made strides in their bowling, especially with Jasprit Bumrah coming back to the lineup and swinging the ball, which was a nightmare for the Pakistani batters. Kuldeep Yadav also showed how effective his wrist spin is, as he took five wickets for just 25 runs in eight overs.

With such a brilliant performance from the Indian side, it can be expected that India will be able to easily breeze past Sri Lanka in the next encounter. However, all of this depends on how much the players can rest and recover, which can affect their performance and will likely be a disadvantage for Team India.
