Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, expectedly, singled out death bowling as an area that requires improvement following the series win over Australia.

In the three-match T20 series against South Africa, India will be without few of their key players. All-rounder Hardik Pandya and medium pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar have both been rested ahead of the ICC event next month. Managing Pandya’s workload will be tricky for the team management as he contributes valuable runs with the bat, has a knack for picking crucial wickets and is an absolute livewire on the field. However, he has just returned from a long injury layoff and the team would like to keep him injury-free for the hectic cricketing calendar ahead.

Mohammad Shami, who is one of the World Cup reserves, is yet to recover from COVID-19 and will be missing the three games against the Proteas after being unavailable for the recently-concluded series against Australia.

In the fast bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah, who is working towards finding his  full rhythm after coming back from injury, will be partnered by Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar.

As far as the spinners are concerned, R Ashwin could get some game time alongwith Yuzvendra Chahal

In the batting department, up the order a lot will depend on KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. These three will be followed by Suryakumar Yadav – who is in sublime form, and Dinesh Karthik and Axar Patel.

After clinching the T20I series against Australia, Team India is geared up to face Temba Bavuma-led South Africa side. The last time these two teams met in June, the honours were shared 2-2.
