India was in a difficult position during the second test as in-form KL Rahul and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja were all out of the squad due to injuries. The middle order suffered a huge blow as Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill have been inconsistent in recent matches. It was expected to be a cakewalk for the Three Lions at Vizag.

However, with some aggressive and sensible batting by youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal and pacer Jasprit Bumrah's masterclass with the ball in the first innings, India gave a very tough fight to the Brits.

Jaiswal scored a brilliant 209 runs off 290 balls, smashing 19 boundaries and 7 sixes, which led to a score of 396 in the first innings for India. After Jaiswal, Gill was the second-highest scorer for India, making 34 off 46 balls. Veteran pacer James Anderson and young spinners Shoaib Bashi and Rehan Ahmed picked up three wickets each.

England had a great start to their first innings courtesy of Zak Crawley's 76 off 78 balls. However, it was short-lived, as the Indian bowlers bowled them out for 253 on the board. Bumrah tarnished England's batting as he picked up six wickets at an economy rate of 2.80. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav also picked up three wickets with the second-best economy rate of 4.20 for any Indian bowler in the first innings.

The highlight of Bumrah's masterclass was his perfect yorker delivery to dismiss Ollie Pope. Pope was bamboozled at the sight of the ball, and he was not able to put his bat down at the right time, and the ball pierced through, uprooting the middle and leg stumps.

In the second innings, Shubman Gill stood up for India as he made a brilliant 104 off 147 balls, announcing his comeback from a series of inconsistent performances. His 104, along with Axar Patel's 45 off 84 balls, added to India's lead as they made 255 runs and set a target of 399. Spinner Tom Hartley picked up four wickets for England.

Zak Crawley again provided a great start for the Three Lions with his 73 off 132 balls. However, they all were bowled out with just 292 runs on the board. Bumrah added to his tally by picking up three wickets, along with Ravichandran Ashwin, who also picked up three.

India vs England 3rd Test Preview

Going into the third test, India has a lot on their plate to deal with. Batting mainstay Virat Kohli will remain unavailable for the remainder of the test series due to personal reasons, as per the board.

KL Rahul has also been ruled out of the third test as he is still recovering from his injuries and Devdutt Padikkal has been named his replacement. Shreyas Iyer has also been left out of the squad. This might put a lot of pressure on young middle-order with a lot of responsibility on Rajat Patidar's shoulders. Sarfaraz Khan will likely make his debut. However, this can turn out to be a great opportunity for both of them to become household names, and it would be quite interesting to see how skipper Rohit Sharma makes use of these talents.

On the English side, skipper Ben Stokes will be playing his 100th test and pacer Mark Wood comes back to the playing XI in place of spinner Shoaib Bashir.
