ICC T20 World Cup 2022 South Africa Squad: German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche once said: "Hope in reality is the worst of all evils." It is this evil reality that has been a thorn in the side of every South African fan. Uber talented Protea squads have in the past been on the wrong side of improbabilities like 'dropping the World Cup', being on the wrong side of the Duckworth Lewis rocket-sciencesque calculations, time after time. 

 

South Africa’s T20 World Cup hopes recently hit a speedbreaker when one of their batting mainstays - Rassie van der Dussen - was ruled out of the campaign due to a finger injury. But, their’s is a talented squad, with plenty of replacements. Skipper Temba Bavuma’s return to the South African T20 World Cup squad should be of some solace as well. 

On the other hand, emerging talent like Tristan Stubbs has been given a golden chance to make a mark on the big stage. Also, this South Africa squad will gain some confidence from the fact that it was this very motley team that beat England 2-1 on their hometurf in the recently-concluded T20 series. 

 

They will hope that someone like David Miller comes into his own, and stamps his mark on the elusive crown.
