Purple Cap Holder in IPL 2023: Chennai Super Kings bowler Tushar Deshpande took three wickets for 49 runs against Punjab Kings on Sunday (April 30, 2023) to jump to the top position in race to Purple Cap. With his three wickets on Sunday, Deshpande has 17 wickets from nine matches.

Playing at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, Deshpande took three wickets, but his team lost the match to Punjab on the last ball.    

He took over the No.1 position from Arshdeep Singh of Punjab Kings, who has 15 wickets from nine matches. He took one wicket for 37 runs in 4 overs.  

Royal Challengers Bangalore's Mohammed Siraj is in the third position with 14 wickets in eight matches. He is one step ahead of Gujarat Titans' leg spinner Rashid Khan, who too has 14 wickets from eight matches. Siraj has a better economy rate than Rashid, so he is in a better position.

Among others, Chennai's Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets against Punjab on Sunday to jump to the fifth spot. He has 13 wickets from nine matches. 

Gujarat's Mohammed Shami is in sixth position with 13 wickets from eight matches, a place above Kolkata Knight Riders' Varun Chakaravarthy, who too has 13 wickets from nine matches. 

Last-year's Purple Cap winner, Yuzvendra Chahal, is in eighth place with 12 wickets in nine matches.
