IPL 2024 Chennai Super Kings squad, CSK match schedule: There's something about the yellow jerseys in men's cricket. Whether it is the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL, or the Australian cricket team in ICC tournaments — if you have them starting the race then you can be sure of a hell of a ride. There's been a pattern to their wins — either they start with a bang and wipe the floor with all their opponents, or even when they start slowly - the race leaders can see them approaching in the rear-view mirror only to somehow pull off a win in the last few steps. Either ways, both the squads clad in yellow thoroughly deserve the "serial winner" tag.

Coming to Chennai's Yellow Army, and the city’s adopted son - 'Thala' Mahendra Singh Dhoni - who (according to his detractors) is always supposedly playing his last IPL, but never shown signs that he'll bow out hobbling or end on a whimper. And when he wins (which he does so often), his fans always say that he has at least 1 more year of IPL cricket left in him. And even when he finishes rungs off the top they say he deserves another year to finish on a high. But cricket fans know that they wouldn't prefer it any other way. The ones who have followed the tournament from 2008 will feel that a part of their youth has withered away when the few stalwarts from the 1st edition, like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli hang their boots. But let's not even talk about that — for there's another year of Dynamic Dhoni to savour!

Talking about the squad of the 5-time winners (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023) , CSK made some astute buys in the IPL auction. They added World Cup heroes from New Zealand — Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra — to bolster their batting lineup, and welcomed back 'Lord' Shardul Thakur to the Yellow Army.

Apart from the new additions, they have a solid batting lineup featuring the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane, and Sameer Rizvi, ably supported by all-rounders like Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Mitchell Santner, and pacers like Mustafizur Rahman,  Mukesh Choudhary, and Deepak Chahar, with spin options like Maheesh Theekshana, and uncapped Prashant Solanki.
