They retained 20 players from Chargers while purchasing 13 new ones.

Sunrisers won their maiden IPL title in 2016 when they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the title clash.

SRH veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar impressed with his bowling and took 23 wickets in 17 matches to retain the Purple Cap as the highest wicket taker in the tournament.

Mustafizur Rahman supported him well and aggregated 16 wickets in 17 matches.

Skipper David Warner roared with his bat as he compiled 848 runs in 17 matches, while Shikhar Dhawan scored 501 runs in as many matches to guide the team to the title triumph.

Sunrisers again came close to winning the IPL title in 2018 courtesy their new skipper Kane Williamson, who amassed 735 runs in 17 matches, and bowlers Siddharth Kaul and Rashid Khan, who scalped 21 each in 17 matches.

But Chennai Super Kings Shane Watson smashed a ton to help his team beat SRH by eight wickets in the title clash.

SRH’s last two outings in the IPL have been forgettable as they finished eighth on both occasions.

For the 2023 season, they have made wholesale changes, right from the support staff to the team.

They have their support staff in the form of great players like Brian Lara, Dale Steyn, and Mutthiah Muralitharan.

Lara is joining as the new coach, replacing Australian Tom Moody.

Bhuvneshwar is their only player from the 2016 IPL-winning squad.

The team has released skipper Williamson and replaced him with Markram.

While the team released Nicholas Pooran, Jagadeesha Suchith, it has roped in Mayank Agarwal, Harry Brook and Adil Rashid.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's record in 2022:

SRH lost their first two matches against Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants.

But they recovered in style, winning five matches in a row, beating teams like Chennai, Gujarat Titans, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

But even as it looked like SRH were on the verge of the biggest turnaround in the tournament, they lost six of their next seven matches, only to finish eighth in the league stage.
