Gill Hits 3rd Ton in IPL 2023: Shubman Gill has already made the world take note of him with a double century in an ODI. But the Gujarat Titans opener took the cricketing world by storm in IPL 2023 season by cracking his third century, thus also taking Orange Cap for the highest run getter in a single season from Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman, Faf du Plessis. In the Gujarat vs Mumbai Indians Qualifier 2 match today (May 26) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gill rose to the occasion and smashed a blistering 60-ball 129-run innings to take GT to to the final of IPL 2023.

It was his third century this season, after a ton each against Sunrisers Hyderabad (also in Ahmedabad) and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The 23-year-old ace batsman also had a 94-run score at the Narendra Modi Stadium this season.

With the century against Mumbai Indians today, Gill also took Orange Cap with 851 runs in 16 matches with one more match to go.

In the list of most runs in a season, Gill is behind Virat Kohli (973 runs in IPL 2016) and Jos Buttler (863 runs in IPL 2022).

Gill has one more match to play (IPL final against Chennai Super Kings on May 28), and will have a shot at the most runs in a single IPL season.

With his three tons in IPL 2023, Gill is second in the list of most tons in a season, behind Kohli and Butler, who have 4 centuries each in IPL 2016 and IPL 2022 seasons, respectively.

Gill is on a roll in IPL 2023 with scores of 129, 42, 104, 101, 6 and 94 runs in his last six matches.
