Mumbai Indians will play Royal Challengers Bangalore in their inaugural IPL 2023 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. Both teams have played 30 matches against each other with Mumbai winning on 17 ocassions and Bangalore on 13.
Highlights RCB Vs MI, IPL 2023:
Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plesiss came out with flying colours as they struck attacking half-centuries to power Royal Challengers Bangalore to a thumping eight-wicket win over five-time champions Mumbai Indians in their IPL opener at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
While Kohli remained unbeaten on 82 off 49 balls, du Plessis scored a solid 73 off 43 balls to set the stage for the chase, which Bangalore chased down in 16.2 overs.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians cashed in on Tilak Varma's stroke-filled unbeaten half-century to score a fighting 171 for seven against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Varma scored an unbeaten 84 off just 46 balls and decorated his knock with nine boundaries and four sixes to guide Mumbai to a fighting total after being sent into bat.
Varma was the lone bright spot in Mumbai's batting department on Sunday.
For RCB, spinner Karn Sharma scalped two, giving away 32 runs in four overs.
