Sagardighi Bypoll Election Result 2023: Voting in the by-election to West Bengal's Sagardighi assembly constituency in Murshidabad district, was held peacefully on February 27. According to Chief Electoral Officer Bijit Kumar Dhar, over 73 per cent of the 2.3 lakh voters exercised their franchise.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC), which has been winning the seat since 2011, won in 2021 by a margin of nearly 50,000 votes. The ruling party candidate secured more than 50 per cent of the total votes polled. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata  Party (BJP) and the Congress-Left alliance had bagged 24 per cent and 19 per cent respectively. 

Meanwhile, BJP national vice-president Dilip Ghosh claimed that the party would come second in the polls after the ruling Trinamool Congress.

The counting of votes for the Sagardighi Bypoll Election will be held on Thursday, March 2.

Sagardighi Bypoll Election Result 2023

Sagardighi is an assembly constituency in West Bengal that comes under the Murshidabad district. In 2021, Subrata Saha of the All India Trinamool Congress won the seat by defeating Kalpana Ghosh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with a margin of 50,216 votes. He was a three-time Trinamool legislator from Sagardighi, securing victories in 2011, 2016 and 2021. But after the sudden demise of Trinamool MLA Subrata Saha on December 29 last year, the by-poll was necessitated.
