Pune by-poll election 2023: Voting at Pune’s two Assembly constituencies — Kasba Peth and Chinchwad – by-poll election 2023 has started from 7:00 AM on Sunday, February 26, 2023, and will continue until 6:00 PM.

The Pune by-poll election 2023 in these two seats were announced by the Election Commission of India after the death of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) member of legislative Assembly (MLAs) Mukta Tilak and Laxman Jagtap, respectively.

The counting of votes for the Pune by-poll elections of Kasba Peth and Chinchwad constituencies will take place on March 2, 2023 and the results are expected to be declared on the same day only.

The total number of voters in the Kasba Peth constituency is around 2,75,428 with 1,38, 550 women voters and 1,36,87 male voters, and five transgender voters, as per the official data released by the district information office.

For the last 10 days, political parties campaigned rigorously for these two seats.

Political leaders like Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and party leader Ajit Pawar, state Congress president Nana Patole, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray also joined the campaign.

In the Chinchwad Assembly constituency, a total of 56,8954 eligible voters will cast their votes across 510 polling booths. The police have marked 13 sensitive polling centers in this constituency with 850 police personnel along with all senior officials stationed across the constituency.

In Chinchwad, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate Vitthal Kate will be contesting against BJP's Ashwini Jagtap and Independent Rahul Kalate.

The Election Commission of India earlier in January 2023 had announced elections in three northeast states – Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya.

The polling in Tripura was conducted on February 16, while the same is scheduled to take place on Monday, February 27, 2023, in Nagaland and Meghalaya. The counting of the votes would be on March 2 in all three states along with Pune by-boll elections.

As many as 15 candidates have filed nominations for the Pune by-poll election 2023 of the Kasba Peth constituency. It is expected to witness a tight contest between BJP’s Hemant Rasane and Congress’ Ravindra Dhangekar.
