Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, BJP candidate Arun Govil, Lok Sabha Elections 2024: To campaign for their co-actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Arun Govil, Deepika Chikhlia and Sunil Lahiri will join a roadshow in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Arun Govil played Lord Ram in the iconic Ramayan TV show, created, written and directed by Ramanand Sagar, and telecast in 1987 on the public TV channel DD National.  Chikhlia and Lahiri played the roles of Sita and Lakshman, respectively.

The roadshow is scheduled to start from Nandan Cinema at 3:30 pm on Monday, and end at Sarasvati Temple after covering a host of localities such as Kailashpuri, Moraripuram, Jay Devi Nagar, Nai Sadak, Samrat Havells, Tulsi Nursing Home, Vaishali Colony, and SK Road, as per a leaflet shared by the BJP candidate on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter). 

"The people of Meerut are fortunate that actors portraying the life of Lord Shri Ram, Mother Sita and Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana serial are coming to Meerut to appeal to voters in support of BJP candidate Arun Govil from the Meerut-Hapur Lok Sabha seat. Please give your invaluable support to the Bharatiya Janata Party by reaching the roadshow in maximum numbers," it read.

"The time has changed but the Meerut of my childhood has not... This is the CAB Inter College where my three elder brothers studied. I studied in Rajkiya Inter College," Govil wrote in a post. 

The other two main characters in the serial, Arvind Trivedi, who played Ravana, and Dara Singh, who played Hanuman, are no more.
