In one of the biggest turns of events in Maharashtra politics today, the National Congress Party leader joined the Eknath Shinde government and was sworn-in as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra. Pawar, who reportedly has the support of 40 MLAs of the NCP, will be one of the two deputy CMs of the state with ex-CM Devendra Fadnavis the other one. Pawar also saw eight of his MLAs take oath as ministers. However, they have yet to receive their portfolios.
The development of Pawar joining the Shinde government came two months after NCP senior leader Sharad Pawar appointed Supriya Sule and Praful Patel as the working presidents of the NCP.
