Baisakhi 2024: Baisakhi, also spelled as Vaisakhi, Visakhi, or Vaishakhi, is a very important and ancient harvest festival celebrated in the northern part of India majorly in Punjab. According to the Hindu Solar calendar, Vaisakhi also marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year.

According to the Drik Panchang, on the day of Vaisakhi, in 1699, the tenth and last Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, founded the Khalsa. He abolished the distinction between high and low-caste communities and declared that all human beings are equal. Later the Guru tradition was abolished in Sikhism and Guru Granth Sahib was declared the eternal guide and holy scripture of Sikhism.

When is Vaisakhi 2024?

As per the Gregorian calendar, the harvest festival generally falls on April 13 or 14 and this year it falls on April 13, Saturday. According to the Drik Panchang, the Baisakhi Sankranti moment is 09:15 PM.
