Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Maratha empire founder Chhatrapati Shivaji on his birth anniversary on Sunday, saying his courage and emphasis on good governance inspire us.
"I pay homage to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his Jayanti. His courage and emphasis on good governance inspires us," Modi said in a tweet.

Governor of Maharashtra Ramesh Bais paid tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti. He tweeted," Salutations to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti."

India's Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri paid tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and said he was a mighty warrior, administrator and brilliant strategist.
"Jai Bhawani! Jai Shivaji! I pay tribute to the founder of the Maratha Empire, Chhatrapati #ShivajiMaharaj Ji on his Jayanti. A mighty warrior, benevolent administrator & brilliant strategist, he built a disciplined military organisation & created a strong naval presence," Puri tweeted.

Congress pays tribute to the Maratha king

The political party the Indian National Congress also tweeted and salute the great warrior on his birth anniversary. "On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti, we salute the great warrior, who founded the Maratha Empire. Known for his honesty, integrity & ethics, the legendary Maratha king is remembered as one of the greatest rulers born to this nation," Congress tweeted.
