After Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from the Lok Sabha on Friday, the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala has been declared vacant, as per an update on the Lok Sabha website.

The website shows that three Lok Sabha constituencies are vacant with the other two being Jalandhar (SC) and Lakshadweep (ST). 

However, he lost his Lok Sabha membership on Friday following his conviction in a criminal defamation case by a lower court in Surat on Thursday.

After today's disqualification, Rahul has also been barred from contesting any election till 2031 unless a higher court acquits him.

The Surat court convicted him since he had made remarks against the Modi surname. 

In 2019 elections, Rahul won the Lok Sabha seat from Wayanad, Kerala, while he lost the election from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, among other vacant seats, Jalandhar fell vacant after Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary died of cardiac arrest in January this year.

While the Lakshadweep seat became vacant after its MP Mohammad Faizal P. P from the Nationalist Congress Party was convicted in an attempt to murder case and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
