Paytm UPI news: Digital payments firm Paytm becomes the 25th third-party app permitted to offer payment services under the UPI payments platform after the latest development. Simply put, Paytm will be allowed to facilitate UPI payments with the help of four PSP banks. Read on to know what it means for you in simple terms.
Paytm UPI news: Digital payments firm Paytm is set to become the 25th third-party app offering payment services under the country's all-popular Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments platform after the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) permitted the company's parent, One97 Communications, to operate as a third-party application provider (TPAP). The development will enable Paytm to facilitate UPI payments with the help of four banks that will act as payment system providers (PSPs).
The NPCI has advised Paytm to complete the migration for its existing handles and mandates, wherever required, to new payment system provider banks at the earliest. Paytm joins a long list of third-party app providers that are authorised to handle UPI payments—such as Bajaj Finserv, Amazon Pay, Flipkart Advanz, Google Pay, Groww, CRED, Kiwi, MobiKwik and PhonePe—with different banks acting as PSPs.
