National Education Day 2022: To realise one's full potential, one must have an education. To emphasis more on this, the National Education Day in India is being celebrated annually on November 11 to mark the birth anniversary of India's first Minister of Education Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad provided the foundation for higher education and scientific research while also significantly influencing the nation's education system.

National Education Day was declared in 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, presently known as the Ministry of Education. The day was observed to recognise the first Indian education minister's birth anniversary and his contributions to education in India.

National Education Day 2022: Significance

The main reason India commemorates National Education Day is to mark Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's birth anniversary. The HRD Ministry declared this day to be observed in order to reflect on Azad's accomplishments as India's first education minister.

Ravi Bhushan, Founder and CEO, BrightCHAMPS, invoked the quote of Malcolm Forbes 'Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one' to say that the true essence is that every child should get education. "Education is arguably the most critical element in building a nation," he said.

National Education Day 2022: Maulana Abul Kalam Azad

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was born on November 18, 1888. His full name was Abul Kalam Ghulam Muhiyuddin Ahmed bin Khairuddin Al-Hussaini Azad. He was a prominent member of the Indian National Congress (INC), a writer, and a freedom fighter for Indian independence. He was appointed as the first Minister of Education in the Indian government following the country's independence. He was minister of education from August 15, 1947 to 1958. He passed away in Delhi on 2 February, 1958.
