"On November 8, 2022, the Moon will pass into Earth’s shadow and turn red. This will be the last total lunar eclipse for about 3 years, so be sure to check it out if it’s visible in your area," space agency NASA had tweeted. The second total lunar eclipse of 2022 will be visible from Asia, Australia, North America, parts of northern and eastern Europe, and most of South America. 

The total Lunar eclipse would be visible only from eastern parts whereas Partial eclipse would be visible from most of India. The lunar eclipse on November 8 can be seen in places like Kolkata, Siliguri, Patna, Ranchi and Guwahati. Total Lunar Eclipse 2022 would be visible in well-known cities like Kathmandu, Tokyo, Manila, Beijing, Sydney, Jakarta, Melbourne, San Francisco, Washington D.C., New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Mexico City. 

What is Lunar Eclipse or Chandra Grahan?

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves into the Earth's shadow. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are exactly or very closely aligned with Earth between the other two, which can happen only on the night of a full moon when the Moon is near either lunar node.

During Solar Eclipse Sutak is observed for 4 Prahars and during Lunar Eclipse Sutak is observed for 3 Prahars before Eclipse. There are total 8 Prahars from Sunrise to Sunrise. - All type of food items either solid or liquid are prohibited during Sutak and Eclipse. 

- It is said that Pregnant women are strictly advised not to venture out during Eclipse. 

- Pregnant women are also advised not to cut or stitch any cloth or to do any other similar activities as these activities have similar effects on the baby.

- Oil massage, drinking water, Mal-Mutra Visarjan, combing hair, brushing teeth and involving in sexual activities are prohibited during Eclipse.
