India Pale Ale Day: History

In the 18th century, these beers were prepared for British mariners who covered long sea journeys to India. The name came from British mariners who headed out to India as a feature of the East India Company in the last part of the 1700s.

One of the first I.P.As to be brewed and exported to India was by George Hodgson’s Bow Brewery. George Hudgson was one of the first to foster a pale beer with a high jump content, which kept its taste better.

This kind of beer has gone through somewhat of a renaissance lately. However, this style of beverage had mostly vanished. Today, India Pale Ales are lead beers for craft brewers worldwide, making them astoundingly famous.

This is why we have India Pale Ale Day to praise this kind of beer!

Later in 2011, Ashley Rousten, a beer lover and the author of "The Beer Wench's Guide to Beer: An Unpretentious Guide to Craft Beer" laid out this holiday, giving all a reason to host a party for India Pale Ale with friends.

Alcohol level in India Pale Ale

India Pale Ale has elevated degrees of alcohol-by-volume percentage and confers citrus, fruit, or floral fragrance and flavors. Meaning this brewery is strong and more bitter than other craft beers.
