Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's 'Gadar 2' is smashing box office records. The movie, which was released on August 11, recently entered the Rs 500 crore club. The film managed to beat Shah Rukh Khan’s 'Pathaan' and SS Rajamouli’s 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' to achieve this feat in 24 days, making it the fastest Hindi film to do so. 'Pathaan' had managed to record the achievement in 28 days, while the second part of the 'Baahubali' franchise crossed the mark in 34 days. It is now the second highest-grossing Indian film and the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023. On its 24th day, the period action drama grossed Rs. 7.86 crore to cross the Rs 500-crore mark. The movie has managed to gross about Rs. 659.68 worldwide.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the Sunny Del starrer going past the Rs 500 crore mark. 'Gadar 2' box office performance

'Gadar 2' has had an impressive box office performance since its release in August. It grossed a whopping Rs 40.1 crore on its opening day. It went on to report a collection of Rs 43.08 crore on the second day. The third day saw a 20 per cent hike as it collected Rs 51.7 crore. The first week total  of 'Gadar 2' stood at Rs 284.63 crore. In the second week, the movie managed to collect Rs 134.47 crore. The Sunny Deol actioner continues its commanding streak at the box office despite competition from other releases like Ayushmann Khurrana’s 'Dream Girl 2'.

What is 'Gadar 2' about?

'Gadar 2' serves as the sequel to the 2001 blockbuster 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha'. It is a period action drama film that is based in the early 1970s. The protagonist Tara Singh, played by Sunny Deol, returns to Pakistan to save his imprisoned son, Charanjeet "Jeete" Singh (Utkarsh Sharma), before the Indo-Pak war of 1971. The movie also stars Manish Wadhwa and Gaurav Chopra in pivotal roles.
