Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara starrer “Jawan” is continuing its stellar run at the box office and has clearly achieved the a remarkable feat in its first weekend itself. Released on September 7 (Thursday), the Atlee directorial grossed a record Rs 81 crore on Sunday, marking the highest single-day collection for a Hindi movie.

In its first weekend the movie has collected Rs 287 crore net in India, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.com and with an estimated collection of Rs 30 crore, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer action drama is set to breach the Rs 300 crore mark on day 5.

Highest single day collection at national chains

Also, with an income of Rs 26.80 crore at PVR and Inox and Rs 6.85 crore at Cinepolis, the film earned a total of Rs 33.65 to bag the all-time highest single day at national chains on Sunday, tweeted film trade analyst Taran Adarsh. 

 

 

If we take a look at the earnings so far in the last four days, “Jawan” has earned Rs 29.96 crore on Day 1, Rs 22.75 crore on Day 2, Rs 32.67 crore on Day 3, and Rs 33.65 crore on Day 4 at the national multiplex chains.  Notably, the film's performance clearly signals a blockbuster start, taking it to become one of the highest-grossing Indian films of the year.

Jawan first weekend box office collections

As far as the numbers are concerned, Jawan kicked off with a bang, earning Rs 75 crore in net collections in India on its first day. Following this, the numbers dipped a bit and the film garnered Rs 53.23 crore on Friday. However, it bounced back strongly on the weekend and earned Rs 77.83 crore on Saturday and Rs 81 crore on Sunday. The film is not only breaking and creating new records, it has also surpassed “Pathaan”, which had collected Rs 280.75 crore in its opening weekend.

With a strong opening weekend, the box office collections can witness a slight dip on Monday. The film's earnings on Monday are estimated to be around Rs 30 crore, according to Sacnilk.com.

Made under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, the Atlee directorial was one of the most-anticipated Shah Ruikh Khan films. The film features many other prominent actors in the lead including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sunil Grover, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra and Ridhi Dogra, among others. “Jawan” also features actress Deepika Padukone in an extended cameo. Ever since it was released, the film has been receiving huge responses from the audiences and rave reviews from the critics.
