After the runaway success of musical blockbusters "Aashiqui" (1990) and "Aashiqui 2" (2013), the starcast of third edition of the hit franchise has been announced. Actor Kartik Aryan, who is basking in the success of "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2", has bagged "Aashiqui 3". The film will witness the collaboration of Aryan and "Barfi" director Anurag Basu for the very first time. "Aashiqui 3" will be directed by Anurag Basu, while Pritam will provide music for the film. The female lead for the film is yet to be finalised.

The 1990 musical romantic drama film starring Rahul Roy, Anu Aggarwal and Deepak Tijori was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The announcement for the third "Aashiqui" saga comes twenty two years after the massive success of the original film.  

The "Aashiqui" name was revived in 2013 by director Mohit Suri for "Aashiqui 2", which starred Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. The film was a commercial success and the original soundtrack was a massive hit.

T-series made the official announcement on Monday, and tweeted, "The biggest announcement of the year is here! We're ecstatic to collaborate with #MukeshBhatt once again with the much anticipated #Aashiqui3 starring our favourite @TheAaryanKartik directed by @basuanuragwith music by @ipritamofficial."

The "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" actor shared the first look of "Aashiqui 3" on social media. "Ab Tere Bin Ji Lenge Hum. Zeher Zindagi Ka Pi Lenge Hum  #Aashiqui3. This one is going to be Heart-wrenching !! My First with Basu Da," the actor tweeted.

Earlier on Monday, Kartik also shared a group photo featuring Anurag Basu, Pritam, Mukesh Bhatt and Bhushan Kumar. He captioned the post, "Team A" on Instagram.

Kartik Aryan will be next seen in Rohit Dhawan's "Shehzada" alongside Kriti Sanon. The actor will also be seen in "SatyaPrem Ki Katha", alongside Kiara Advani. He recently took to social media, where he posted a picture of himself praying to Lord Ganpati before commencing work for his upcoming film "Satya Prem Ki Katha".

He also has "Freddy" and "Captain India" in his kitty, an IANS report said.
