Smartphone battery explosion: A mobile phone explosion claimed the life of an eight-year-old girl in Thiruvilwamala village of Kerala state after a mobile phone exploded while she was watching videos. The deceased was identified as a student of class 3. The incident has shockwaves among people as many kids and young students have been spending a lot of time with smartphones these days. While many guardians and parents have expressed their concern online, experts are of the view that one should not use mobile phones while charging.

Also, it has been noticed that incidents of explosions in smartphones increases during the summer. The main reason behind this is considered to be overheating. While most smartphones these days come with several levels of protection to keep overheating in check, it still remains a prevalent issue. 

Considering this, here we are going to share some of the points that can help prevent your smartphone from exploding in the summer:

  • Avoid using your smartphone under direct sunlight for long hours. Also, keep your phone away from heat sources. 
  • Leaving your smartphone in your car during hot summer days would not be a good idea.
  • It is always advisable to avoid using your phone while it's charging. Especially when you are using it under direct sunlight or in a hot environment. 
  • Some chargers may result in overheating during charging. Therefore, it is always better to use only manufacturer-approved chargers and cables. 
  • Don't leave your phone on charging for long hours. In other words, avoid overcharging your phone. Remove the charger once your phone is fully charged.
  • Do leave your under your pillow while charging.. This can cause your phone to overheat and potentially catch fire.
  • Avoid using your smartphone if it is too hot. It is advisable to turn off your smartphone and let it cool down for a few minutes.
  • Always update the software of your smartphone on time. This fixed several issues, including overheating.
