Vivo X Fold First Look: The global technology brand Vivo on Tuesday hosted its Technology Day event in India. At the Vivo Tech Day 2022, the company showcased its first foldable smartphone-- the Vivo X Fold 5G. This foldable flagship smartphone will be competing against the mighty Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. The Vivo is yet to make the announcement on the India launch, but the phone has potential to disrupt the Indian foldable phone market, which is currently ruled by the Samsung.

In terms of design, the Vivo X Fold has a leather back and a quad-camera set up in partnership with ZEISS for enabling superior photography experience.The right edge of the Vivo X Fold has a button that looks like an alert slide. The other edge of the device has a volume rocker and a power key. The display has bigger size if you compare it with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. It looks premium and stunning. The size of the Vivo X Fold is decent - bigger than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. This giant foldable device looks beautiful in hands. The leather back hardly attracts fingerprint marks. The Vivo X Fold is bulky and feels heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.

 

According to the company, the flagship Vivo X Fold is a culmination of 150 technological patents. It solves the main user pain point with fold phones - the crease. The carefully crafted unibody structure of the hinge makes the Vivo X Fold a benchmark in the era of foldable smartphones. Vivo X Fold is incorporated six aerospace grade materials. Weighing less than just 21 grams, it has 76 per cent greater material strength and 21 times greater corrosion resistance.

With Vivo X Fold, the company introduced 3D Ultrasonic Dual-Screen Fingerprint scanning that allows fingerprint unlocking on both displays with a single register making it smart and practical. You will also see Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner on a foldable smartphone. 

In terms of pricing and specifications- In China, Vivo X Fold  hina variant comes in two storage variants. The 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage variant is priced at CNY 8,999 (around Rs 1,02,883.29) and the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant will cost you CNY 9,999 (around Rs 1,14,316.04). This foldable smartphone comes in Black, Blue and Grey colour options.

The display has a 16MP punch-hole camera that is placed on the top right corner. The foldable smartphone comes with “an aerospace-grade wing hinge”.  It has a notebook-like foldable design. The outer display is 6.53-inch in size and has an aspect ratio of 21:9. This also has a front-facing camera that sits in the top right corner, the brand said

In terms of camera, the smartphone has a quad rear camera setup that houses a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 12MP portrait lens and an 8MP periscope lens that supports 5X optical zoom and 60X digital zoom. The smartphone runs on Android 11 based OriginOS Ocean out of the box. As for the battery, it is equipped with a 4,600 mAh battery that supports 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
