At first glance, you may find Samsung Galaxy S24 donning the design language of S23, its predecessor. It may take a bit longer for you to distinguish between the latest offering and its previous model. Well, coming to the design, it has a sleek profile with a thickness of 7.6mm and a weight of around 167 grams. The construction is robust, enclosed by an aluminium frame, with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Further, this device is adorned by metal-ringed camera islands, three of them to be precise, at the back.

On the front, you get a punch-hole display, with the selfie shooter at the top. Importantly, you won’t find that 3.5mm audio jack in this device. For colour enthusiasts, Samsung is offering the device in three colour variants- amber yellow, cobalt violet, and onyx black.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Review: Display

Having the Gorilla Glass Victus protection both on the back and front panels, the Samsung Galaxy S24 sports a 6.2-inch full HD + Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, providing a better screen-to-body ratio. The bezels are pleasantly symmetrical and thinner, poised to furnish a seamless user experience. It boasts an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, giving a seamless performance without impacting the battery life. The experience gets a notch above with the presence of Samsung’s Vision Booster technology, which enhances sunlight legibility, as well as simultaneously preserving colour accuracy. The stereo speaker setup, featuring Dolby Atmos technology, enhances the multimedia experience, enabling the device to offer clear and loud audio output.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Review: Performance and Software

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is powered by Samsung Exynos 2400 chipset. Clocking a peak CPU speed of 3.21 GHz, the day-to-day tasks and even gaming on this device are going to be buttery-smooth. No technical hiccups or occasional stutters are encountered while undertaking multitasking. Further, the performance is a breeze, thanks to the standard 8GB of RAM. The device runs on Android 14 operating system with OneUI 6.1.

The user experience is on par with higher counterparts, with limited third-party apps. The user interface boasts seamless customisation options. One of the unmissable features, akin to Samsung’s S24 Series, is the AI feature, encompassing Circle to Search and Generative Edit, among others, which further enhances productivity, and communication, ultimately giving wings to the user experience.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Review: Camera

Featuring a triple-camera setup, including the 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilisation, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, with a 120-degree field of view, and a 10MP telephoto sensor with 3x Optical Zoom, the Samsung Galaxy S24 does an impressive job. In natural sunlight, it captures photos with enhanced detail. The ultra-wide-angle sensor captures photos, maintaining colour symmetry, backed by an enhanced dynamic range. Under good lighting conditions, the telephoto sensor performs brilliantly, capturing close-ups.

When it comes to low-light conditions, the entire camera setup offers considerably good outputs. The photos maintain sharpness, appearing crisp even when captured in night conditions. Along with these features, you will have AI-backed photo editing capabilities. If you are a video creator, the inclusion of Studio for video editing may potentially take your creative prowess to the next level. On the front, you get a 12MP selfie sensor. The selfie shooter performs amazingly well, bolstered by improved imaging algorithms and other features.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Review: Battery and Charging

Powered by a 4000-mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy S24 gets a backup worth an entire day. If you will unleash this device in modest use conditions, the battery will not be an issue. However, under intense usage conditions, including 4K video recording and gaming, a considerably faster battery drainage is encountered. It supports 25W charging, which apparently does not compete with its counterparts in this segment which offer ultrafast charging facilities. Nevertheless. the device gets fully charged in a little over an hour. Additionally, it houses a 15W wireless charging facility as well as a 4.5W wireless reverse charging functionality. But the charging adapter has to be procured separately, requiring extra bucks from your pocket.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Review: Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S24’s strengths undoubtedly outweigh the weaknesses. Backed by a premium build quality, it offers a more than satisfactory camera setup, seamless display, and next-generation features like AI-powered capabilities. The performance also gives tough fights to other counterparts in this segment. The battery, however, presents a fertile area for improvement, it still lasts for a day, which is commendable. To put it bluntly, if you are seeking a compact and lightweight smartphone, reaching that flagship level in almost all domains, the Samsung Galaxy S24’s candidacy can’t be written off.
